Track ClickBank Commissions Back to Your TikTok Ads

The affiliate redirect is a visibility blackout: your commission lands in ClickBank, and TikTok never learns which ad earned it. This playbook closes the loop with AutoTagged hop links and postbacks.

Playbooks / Track ClickBank Commissions Back to Your TikTok Ads

The moment a visitor clicks your hop link, you go blind. The sale happens on the merchant’s site, the commission shows up in ClickBank, and TikTok, which paid for the click, never finds out. Its algorithm keeps optimizing on clicks while your earnings per click (EPC) data sits in a dashboard it can’t see.

This playbook threads the AnyTrack click ID through ClickBank’s own postback machinery, so every sale and rebill is attributed back to the TikTok campaign that earned it and sent to TikTok server-side.

How it works

The Journey of a Tracked Conversion

Example Scenario

You run TikTok traffic to a presell page with ClickBank hop links. You want Purchase events, with commission values, flowing back to TikTok so Smart Performance campaigns optimize on commissions instead of clicks, and you want one report showing EPC per campaign.

Prerequisites Before You Begin
  • An AnyTrack account on Starter or above (the Conversion API requires a paid plan)
  • An active ClickBank affiliate account
  • An active TikTok Ads account
  • Your own presell or landing pages where you can install the Tracking Tag

Step 1: Install the Tracking Tag

Paste the Tracking Tag before </head> on your presell pages. From the moment it loads, AnyTrack AutoTags every ClickBank hop link on the page with the extclid parameter carrying a fresh click ID, and tracks each click as an OutboundClick event. No link editing required.

Enable the affiliate tracking parameters first

ClickBank’s extclid affiliate tracking parameters have to be enabled on your account before the click ID can ride the hop link into ClickBank. Ask your ClickBank affiliate manager to turn on the new affiliate tracking parameters first. Details in ClickBank affiliate tracking parameters.

Step 2: Connect ClickBank

Install ClickBank from the Integration Catalog and copy your postback URL, then wire it up in ClickBank:

  1. In Vendor Settings → My Site → Advanced Tools, paste the postback URL into the Instant Notification URL field, select Version 8.0, click Test IPN, and save. This tracks sales, upsells, and rebills.
  2. In Integrated Sales Reporting, add the same URL as a Tracking Tag, set Track As to Affiliate, and select only Order Form. This tracks order page impressions as InitiateCheckout.

Check the hop link in seconds

Hover a hop link on your presell page and look for extclid= appended to the URL.

Step 3: Connect TikTok Ads

Open Tracking Pixels in your AnyTrack dashboard, select TikTok, authorize your account, and toggle on the TikTok Conversion API. AnyTrack loads the TikTok Pixel for you, sends your conversions server-side enriched with the data ClickBank returns in the postback, and deduplicates browser and server events with a shared event ID.

One pixel, no duplicates

Remove any TikTok pixel installed manually or through another app; a second pixel inflates event counts in TikTok Events Manager.

Attach the UTM template

TikTok doesn’t auto-append UTMs: copy the template from the TikTok Pixel’s Ads Integrations tab, paste it into each ad, then click Verify Ads Settings.

Step 4: Map Your Events

Review the Event Mapping on the ClickBank integration page. The defaults work for most funnels: link clicks arrive as OutboundClick, order page loads as InitiateCheckout, and sales as Purchase. If you promote recurring products, you can map rebills to a custom conversion name; custom names need mapping to your ad platform’s conversion events.

Step 5: Launch the Campaign Stack

The postback loop is closed. Two campaigns run on it: one hunts new buyers, one recovers the clicks you already paid for.

Prospecting: bid on commissions, not clicks

Your main traffic engine, optimizing toward the events that pay out.

  • Destination: your presell page, with AnyTrack’s UTM tracking template pasted into each ad’s details (TikTok doesn’t auto-append UTMs) and Verify Ads Settings showing green. Without it, the Campaign Report can’t show EPC per campaign.
  • Budget: let your payout do the math: a daily budget your commission margin can carry through a learning week, scaled in steps of 20 to 30% for the ad groups whose EPC clears your cost per click.
  • Audience: broad. The Purchase postbacks carry commission values, so let TikTok’s optimization find your buyers instead of stacking interest filters.
  • Event tracking: optimizes on the Purchase conversions returned through the ClickBank postback; every visitor generates the OutboundClick and InitiateCheckout events that feed the retargeting pool below.
  • Conversion objective: Website Conversions, optimized for the TikTok event your Purchase mapping points to. If commissions are too sparse for bidding to learn from, optimize for your mapped InitiateCheckout first (order form views arrive through the same postback machinery), then switch once sales accumulate.

Retargeting: recover the hop-clickers

The redirect blackout used to hide these people. Now they’re an audience.

  • Destination: the presell page, same per-ad UTM template, so the second visit is attributed like the first.
  • Budget: 10 to 15% of prospecting. The pool refills with every prospecting click, so scale the two together.
  • Audience: a website custom audience of OutboundClick without Purchase, 7-day window. These people clicked your hop link, saw the order page, and stalled.
  • Event tracking: fed by the OutboundClick events AnyTrack AutoTags and tracks; generates the Purchase events that lift each buyer out of the audience automatically.
  • Conversion objective: Website Conversions, optimized for the TikTok event your Purchase mapping points to.

The Optimization Loop

The blackout you started with now runs in reverse. Every sale and rebill ClickBank posts back crosses the redirect gap carrying its commission value and lands server-side in TikTok’s delivery system, where it teaches the algorithm the difference between a viewer who pays and a viewer who’s merely cheap to reach. The buyer drops out of your retargeting pool on the same signal. AnyTrack matches each postback to its hop click and sends it the instant it arrives; TikTok fits each conversion into bidding and audiences on its own terms.

One session a week covers your side:

  1. Measure. EPC, revenue, and ROAS per campaign in the Campaign Report, rebills included. ClickBank can show you the payout but never the creative that earned it; the Campaign Report is where the two finally meet.
  2. Improve. Creatives live or die by one comparison: EPC under your cost per click gets killed, EPC over it gets the freed budget. Pull the retargeting window in when frequency climbs.
  3. Expand. A presell page with proven EPC is an invitation to test a second angle or creative batch against it. And if rebills drive your offer’s economics, map them to their own conversion name and start weighing campaigns by lifetime commissions instead of front-end sales.

TikTok keeps learning from the commissions as they flow; your weekly session promotes the creatives those commissions vote for. The redirect that used to hide your buyers is now the thing that reports them.

Wrapping Up

Here’s what you shipped:

  • Hop links AutoTagged with the click ID, so the redirect blackout no longer breaks attribution.
  • ClickBank sales and rebills tracked through postbacks and sent to TikTok server-side.
  • A prospecting and retargeting stack bidding on commissions, plus a weekly loop that scales the creatives that earn.

The network test mode note: a ClickBank test conversion only tracks if it passes the click ID back, so plan on one real qualifying sale to verify end to end.
